Google Pixel Watch 5 Smartwatch Hits Its Lowest Price Yet at $300
In US stores, the 41-mm Wi-Fi model of Google's Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch now costs $300 instead of $400. The 25 percent discount is the lowest price seen so far.
Google's newest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5, has become cheaper. At US retailers Amazon, Best Buy and the Google Store, the 41-mm Wi-Fi model is selling for $300 instead of $400, according to technology magazine Wired, which calls it the lowest price recorded so far. The larger 45-mm model is discounted from $430 to $330.
The offer comes ahead of Black Friday, the late-November shopping event. Wired notes it is unclear how long the deal will last and advises against waiting for the holiday.
What the watch offers
Wired rates the Pixel Watch 5 as one of the best smartwatches for Android users. Compared with its predecessor, it has twice the RAM and storage and a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, which makes it 20 percent faster.
The new strength training mode includes a workout builder, audio cues and rest times, along with tracking of weights and repetitions. Routines can be built in the Google Health app, and the Gemini AI assistant can generate a workout from a photo of the user's gym equipment. The watch also supports some offline tasks, such as starting a workout.
New Health Guardian tools monitor trends in insulin resistance and blood pressure, as well as sleep breathing quality and breathing emergencies (the latter available only in select countries). ECG, skin temperature tracking and loss-of-pulse detection remain. Google says sleep tracking is 15 percent more accurate than on the Pixel Watch 4.
Battery
Google estimates up to 40 hours of battery life, but the reviewer's watch lasted about 36 hours in testing. Wired singles out fast charging: 15 minutes on the charger gives up to 15 hours of use.
At $400 the device is a harder recommendation, since many of its software upgrades will also reach the previous generation. At $300, however, it is cheaper than the latest Apple Watch Series 12 and other high-end smartwatches.
