Latvian band Audiokvartāls releases new song “Pabraukājies līdz”
The Latvian pop band Audiokvartāls released the song “Pabraukājies līdz” (roughly “Come Along for a Ride”) with a music video on 12 October. The date matches the band’s 12th anniversary.
The Latvian band Audiokvartāls has released a new song, “Pabraukājies līdz”, a love song built around the theme of car journeys. It came out on 12 October, a date chosen on purpose because the band is celebrating its 12th anniversary this year. A music video was published alongside the track.
How the song came about
The music was written by frontman Ivars Ozoliņš. The lyrics are by Kristers Rudzītis of the band Sub Scriptum. Ozoliņš says the idea came on a summer day while he was driving his old Mercedes, which is no longer with him. A line popped into his head, “come along with me for a ride”, and the song grew from it in a light, playful spirit.
The authors wanted to portray a relationship as an adventure or an easy drive. According to the singer, sitting behind the wheel gives a sense of freedom and independence, and a person can go wherever they wish. Starting a relationship also involves the unknown, but with the right person it is possible to plot your own route.
The video
The video was directed and filmed by Valters Mirksis. Band member Arnis Ozoliņš says the team wanted to include an element of surprise and give both the love story and the car theme an unexpected twist. Ivars Ozoliņš admits the band members are not big car enthusiasts, but they slipped into the role of car fans during the making of the song and the photo shoots. He suggests the biggest fan among them is probably Māris.
The clip combines a summery mood of convertibles and drivers with autumnal touches.
