Over 20 details spotted in the extended GTA VI look
Netflix briefly held an exclusive 26-minute extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, revealing numerous new gameplay mechanics ahead of the game's November 19 release. The footage highlights combat changes, expanded carjacking and a new reputation system.
Netflix secured a temporary exclusive on a 26-minute extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI before the trailer rolled out to YouTube and other platforms. The game, due out November 19, offers a deeper glimpse of Vice City and the surrounding bayous and forests of Leonida, revealing a wide range of new features.
Two playable characters
Players will be able to switch between lead characters Jason and Lucia much like in GTA V. Certain missions appear to restrict players to one character or force a choice through a cutscene.
Expanded wanted and reputation systems
The footage briefly shows six wanted stars, exceeding GTA V's five-star cap. A new Criminal Profile system is also introduced, functioning somewhat like Red Dead Redemption 2's Honor system by weighing context — retaliating against an aggressor is judged less harshly than an unprovoked killing spree. A Rockstar North representative said consistent player behavior will affect how the world and story respond.
Combat and vehicle theft changes
Players can now swap between two weapons without opening a weapon wheel, pick up guns more quickly, and wield certain weapons one-handed. A new minigame requires using a flat tool to break into vehicles, while pricier cars with electronic locks will require key cloners to steal.
Side activities and franchise callbacks
The trailer showcases new activities including basketball, dirt bike racing, scuba diving, stock car racing, kayaking and wrestling. Numerous nods to other Rockstar titles also appear, including a fishing minigame, San Andreas-style muscle training, and Max Payne 3-inspired kill-cam shots.
