On Monday, water samples were taken and analyzed at 18 of the most frequented swimming areas in Gulbene municipality. The aim was to check water safety and detect possible contamination. Results indicate that all tested sites have water suitable for swimming.

No cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) or other phytoplankton blooms, which can pose health risks, were found. Traces of oil products were absent, showing no fuel or oil pollution. Surface-active substances, often from detergents, were also not detected.

Additionally, no floating or other waste pollution was observed. Microbiological indicators—levels of intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli (E. coli)—were within the allowed limits. This means there are no dangerous bacteria that could cause infections.

Overall, the tests confirm that the most popular swimming places in Gulbene municipality are clean and safe for recreation. Residents and visitors can enjoy the swimming season without concern about water quality.
