Skrīveri handball side wins again in Latvian top league, coach warns tougher games lie ahead
Skrīveri-based handball team HK S&A beat Dobele side ZRHK Dobele/DSS 35:29 at home in the Latvian men's top league. Head coach Lauris Rūtiņš says the upcoming opponents will be considerably stronger.

In a home game of the Latvian men's handball top league, the SynotTip league, Skrīveri team HK S&A defeated Dobele side ZRHK Dobele/DSS 35:29. It was the team's second win from two matches at the start of the season, and Skrīveri currently lead Group B, which has five teams.
The match
HK S&A head coach Lauris Rūtiņš admitted the start of the game was not as smooth as hoped. The team could not get its defence organised, and the goalkeeper was not as helpful as in the opening match of the season. The first half was level, but in the second the hosts pulled away and built a more convincing lead. That allowed every player to get time on the court.
The coach noted that the opponents arrived without their full squad, which made the game easier for the hosts than expected.
Linards Dubausks was the top scorer for the home side with nine goals. Mārtiņš Gailītis was on target eight times.
What comes next
Rūtiņš explained that neither of the two opponents so far has been among the strongest teams in the group, describing them as a warm-up, the "easy end". The wins have helped the team believe in itself, but tougher and more intense games against considerably stronger sides lie ahead. One of them comes in the next away fixture, against Salaspils SS.
