Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are planning to return to the United States with their children within a few weeks to spend Christmas in California, according to the British outlet The Mirror. The report relies on a close friend of the couple, who told the Daily Mail tabloid that the family is trying to "keep their heads down" until the holiday. The news concerns where the couple will be after their move to the United Kingdom.

Move to the UK

The couple unexpectedly relocated from California to the UK at the end of August 2026. Harry and Meghan are non-working members of the royal family: six years ago they gave up official duties to start a new life in the US. Their children are Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Home and holiday plans

The Sussexes still own a home worth millions of dollars in Montecito, a popular celebrity neighbourhood near Los Angeles. They are reportedly planning to spend school holidays and breaks either in California or in Portugal, where they also own a property.

The royal family traditionally spends December at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, but the Sussexes are reportedly not going there this year.

Paparazzi near the children's school

The Mirror also recalls that a spokesperson for the couple recently condemned international paparazzi who were spotted near the grounds of the children's school in the UK. The spokesperson called it an "unacceptable intrusion into children's privacy".
