Honor Magic V6 sets three foldable firsts
The Honor Magic V6 is the thinnest, most water-resistant, and largest-battery foldable phone yet, but real-world improvements are modest.

Honor has launched the Magic V6, a foldable smartphone that claims three industry firsts. It is the world’s thinnest foldable: just 4mm when open and 8.75mm folded (white version). It is also the first foldable with IP69 dust and water resistance, capable of withstanding high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. The third first is the largest battery in a foldable: 6,660mAh (7,150mAh in China), offering up to two days of usage.
Despite these achievements, The Verge notes that many upgrades are incremental. For instance, the thickness difference is only 0.05mm from the previous model – the width of a human hair. IP69 rating is rarely useful in daily life. The battery, however, is a meaningful improvement – even heavy users may not drain it in a single day.
The Magic V6 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, dual 120Hz OLED displays, a triple rear camera, and stylus support. Honor promises seven years of OS and security updates – matching Google and Samsung.
Drawbacks remain. The camera lags behind top slab phones: shots are often oversaturated with inconsistent color processing. The crease is more visible than on Oppo’s latest. Software – MagicOS – is criticized as noisy, bloated with Honor’s own apps, and less intuitive for multitasking.
The global rollout has begun in Malaysia and Singapore, with a price around $1,930. UK and Europe will follow later this month.
