iFootage Shark Slider Pico Pro: A Pocket-Sized Slider That Drives DJI Pocket Camera Moves
Creator Jake Sloan has reviewed iFootage's compact motorized Shark Slider Pico Pro, built for small cameras including the DJI Pocket line. The device stores repeatable camera moves and can also control the gimbal of a DJI Pocket.
Video creator Jake Sloan, working with drone-industry site DroneXL, has published a review of the iFootage Shark Slider Pico Pro, a compact motorized camera slider. It is designed for action cameras, smartphones and pocket cameras such as the DJI Pocket 3, Pocket 4, Pocket 4P and the Insta360 Luna Ultra and Luna Pro. Sloan says iFootage sent him the unit but does not pay for or otherwise sponsor the video.
Button and app control
The slider has built-in batteries and is considerably smaller and lighter than the manufacturer's Shark Slider Nano. Basic functions work without the app: pressing the AB and play/pause buttons together lets the user move the carriage by hand to an A point and a B point, while a dial sets the speed. The slider can then loop between the points until stopped.
For more advanced use there is iFootage's Moco app, which connects over Bluetooth. It supports up to eight points, controlling both slide and pan. Modes include video, time-lapse, stop motion, panorama and multi-target, and a hold time can be set at each point. According to Sloan, the moves are performed exactly as programmed, so they can be repeated precisely across takes.
DJI Pocket integration
When connected by USB-C cable to a Pocket 3, Pocket 4 or Pocket 4P, the slider can also control the camera's tilt, pan and zoom. Recording starts automatically when play is pressed. Sloan found the zoom jumpy. The integration is currently unavailable for the Insta360 Luna models, which get only the slide, the gimbal pan and the camera's own tracking.
Sloan says an arm accessory that adds tilt is planned for the Pro version. He puts the price on Amazon at roughly a couple of hundred dollars.
