Four traffic accidents with injuries in Estonia in 24 hours, 14 drunk drivers detained

Estonia saw four serious traffic accidents in the past day, involving injuries, including one with an e-scooter, while police detained 14 drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, four serious traffic accidents occurred on the country's roads over the past 24 hours, resulting in injuries. One of the incidents involved an electric scooter. Additionally, 14 drivers were detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the police reported in their Monday morning bulletin.

The first accident happened around 1:16 a.m. in Lääne-Viru County, near the entrance to Rakvere. A 36-year-old driver of a Kia Ceed, under the influence of alcohol, drove into the oncoming lane while exiting a roundabout and collided with a Ford Mondeo. The Kia driver was taken to hospital.

At 2:11 a.m., in central Tallinn's Old Town on Vana-Viru Street, a 30-year-old man fell off an electric scooter while riding. He was hospitalized.

At 3:19 p.m., an accident occurred in Harju County on the 12th kilometer of the Keila–Haapsalu highway, near the village of Nahkjala. A 75-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Outlander lost control and drove into a ditch. He was taken to hospital for a health check.

Another accident took place at 9:22 p.m. in Tallinn at the beginning of Merivälja Road. A 24-year-old motorcyclist on a Kawasaki fell while riding and sustained injuries; he was also taken to hospital.
