Estonian Museum of Architecture Opens Exhibition for 30th Anniversary of Salt Shed
The Estonian Museum of Architecture has opened the exhibition 'The Phenomenon of the Salt Shed: Back to the Future', dedicated to the 30th anniversary of one of Estonia's key contemporary art centers, the Salt Shed.

A new exhibition has opened at the Estonian Museum of Architecture, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Salt Shed, a prominent contemporary art venue. Titled 'The Phenomenon of the Salt Shed: Back to the Future', the display brings together video art, painting, installations, and architectural projects, fostering a dialogue between past and present.
According to curator Eha Komissarov, artists were invited to revisit their iconic works from the 1990s and create contemporary reinterpretations. The exhibition features pieces by Ene-Liis Semper, Marko Mäetamm, KIWA, Ilmar Malin, and several Estonian architects. A central piece is the restored installation by Urmas Viik, originally created in the mid-1990s and lost after its first presentation. The curator noted that the work made a strong impression and its new version offers a modern reading while staying true to the original concept. The exhibition runs until October 4.
