Estonian Culture Minister Heidi Purga of the Reform Party has approved a change in the make-up of the Integration Foundation's council. Nikita Lumijõe takes the place of Aleksei Yashin, a former deputy mayor of Tallinn, on the body that supervises the foundation.

According to an order dated 27 October, the replacement was carried out at the initiative of the Eesti 200 party. It was reported earlier that Yashin had left that party and joined the Social Democrats.

Lumijõe works as an adviser to Education Minister Kristina Kallas and has been a member of Eesti 200 since November 2018. Kallas chairs Eesti 200.

How the council works

Among other duties, the Integration Foundation's council oversees its activities. It can have up to 13 members, appointed for three years by the founder, who is the culture minister. Parliamentary parties are among those represented. The Social Democrats' representative is Henri Kazelo, former mayor of Kohtla-Järve.

Ordinary council members receive 140 euros per month for their work.
