On June 16, the Estonian border guard service, using the radar of the Mustvee border post, detected a violation on Lake Teploe, which lies in the border area. The radar revealed that a flag for a fishing rig was placed several dozen meters into the border regime zone, which is prohibited. A border patrol immediately responded and encountered two men who had transported the gear to the zone by boat. Both fishermen admitted to breaching the rules. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the boat driver, resulting in a fine of €200. The Lõuna Prefecture reported the incident on Wednesday. The border guards explained the border regime regulations to the offenders and reminded them that placing fishing gear in the zone without permission is forbidden. This case illustrates the strict enforcement of border zone restrictions.
