Estonian government weighs possible measures against high energy prices this winter
Estonia's government reviewed potential support measures for residents in case energy prices spike sharply this winter, though no final decision on aid has been made.

Energy Minister Erkki Keldo presented the government on Thursday with an overview of the current energy market situation, the risks of price increases in the coming winter, and possible support measures that could help residents if energy costs rise sharply, Estonian broadcaster's news program "Aktuaalne Kaamera" reported.
The cabinet discussed potential responses should energy prices climb to very high levels. However, officials at the Ministry of Climate stressed that this discussion does not guarantee that support will actually be provided. A separate decision will need to be made later on whether aid is necessary, what conditions would apply, and how it would be funded.
Outcome tied to winter weather
Government representatives noted that the need for state intervention will largely depend on what kind of weather the country experiences this winter. This suggests that a final decision on any relief measures is likely to come only once the winter season's conditions become clearer.
