Imants Freibergs, husband of Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, the former President of Latvia, wrote his will three years before he died, the magazine "Jauns&Privāts" reports. Ten months have passed since his death, but the inheritance has not yet been formalised with a notary.

Family members are soon to meet and go to a notary together to put the necessary paperwork in order. The family reportedly has no disagreements over the estate.

How the estate is divided

According to Kārlis Freibergs, son of Imants and Vaira, his mother was left mainly the funds held in bank accounts, along with shares. He and his sister were each allotted two real estate properties. His sister was also left their father's car.

Support for the widow

Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga is now on her own after 64 years of marriage. Kārlis Freibergs says the family is trying to be close to her. Her daughter and grandchildren are also described as her greatest joys.

"I try to cheer up and support Mum as much as I can. There is nothing greater than talking and hugging each other," Kārlis Freibergs told the magazine.
