Group Home for People with Severe Developmental Disabilities May Be Built in Imanta This Year
Construction of a group home for adults with severe developmental disabilities in Riga's Imanta neighborhood may begin this year. Funding comes from donations raised through candle sales.

A group home for adults with severe developmental disabilities, who require lifelong support and care, may start construction this year in the Imanta district of Riga. The project is funded entirely by donations, with proceeds from candle sales providing the necessary resources.
On Saturday, the Latvian Movement for Independent Living invited volunteers to what may be the final cleanup before construction officially begins. The event aimed to prepare the site for upcoming building work.
Such group homes are designed to offer individuals with severe disabilities the opportunity to live within a community while receiving the support they need. This project stands out as it relies on public donations rather than state funding. The organization hopes that construction can commence later this year.
