Native American lawyer fights ICE in new documentary
The documentary 'Native Americans Resisting ICE' follows lawyer Chase Iron Eyes, who after an ICE killing joins protests in Minneapolis and takes legal action against the federal Operation Metro Surge. The film shows Native American rights advocates filing a class-action lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security.

A new documentary highlights the legal battle of Native American lawyer Chase Iron Eyes against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Chase, a resident of the Pine Ridge reservation, drops everything after ICE kills Renee Good and joins protests on the streets of Minneapolis. As part of Operation Metro Surge, 3,000 federal agents are deployed to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, and Chase witnesses the impact of the crackdown firsthand. When ICE begins targeting Native Americans in Minnesota, he shifts from street-level resistance to the courtroom. Alongside other human rights lawyers, he mounts a legal challenge and pursues class-action lawsuits against ICE and the Department of Homeland Security. The film, directed by Joi Lee and Ed Ou, was published on July 5, 2026.
