Latvian musician Intars Busulis and his band Abonementa orķestris (the Subscription Orchestra) released their sixth studio album, "Deg mans ugunskurs" ("My Bonfire Is Burning"), on 21 October. It is his first album after a three-year break. A concert tour has also been announced for 2027, with the final show planned for 8 May at Xiaomi Arena in Riga.

About the album

The album contains 10 tracks. The music was written by Busulis and Kārlis Lācis, while the lyrics were entrusted to poets, among them Marts Pujāts, Kārlis Vērdiņš, Kate Elpo and Kristaps Upenieks. The album also includes a song composed by Vineta Lāce with words by Zinaīda Lazda. Reinis Sējāns is the producer, the mix was done by sound engineer Gatis Zaķis, and mastering took place in France.

The title track "Uguns" ("Fire") has also been released as a single. Its lyrics were written by Marts Pujāts. According to Busulis, the song speaks of a gloomy oppression that weighs on people like a heavy cast-iron pot, yet even in such moments the fire can be kept from going out.

Busulis says that he and the producer decided to return to an era when the interplay of musicians, vocal parts and instrument arrangements mattered most, rather than what computers make possible. The recording involved Abonementa orķestris, a string quartet from Sinfonietta Rīga, wind players from the Latvian Radio Big Band and the gospel choir GGChoir. The album was also issued on vinyl, with photographs by Filips Šmits used in the design.

Launch event and concerts

The album launch took place on the evening of 21 October at the TRENTINI design gallery. Media representatives, music journalists, musicians' family members and invited guests attended and were the first to hear all the songs. Busulis was joined on stage by the musicians who took part in making the album.

Concerts will be held in Cēsis, Rēzekne and Liepāja, with the tour finale expected on 8 May 2027 in Riga. Tickets are available at Biļešu Paradīze box offices.
