Interior designer Uģis Pīrs from "Pīrs Interior" advises that when purchasing a bathtub, one must lie down in it to check the size and depth. He notes that while aesthetics are important, individual needs vary—some prefer a cozy space, others romantic or functional.

For morning tooth brushing, the most ergonomic position is to support elbows on a wide countertop, so a large work surface made of acrylic or similar material with an undermount sink is recommended. Integrated sinks that blend with the counter are easier to clean; bowl sinks, though stylish, are uncomfortable due to abdominal strain and splashing. The counter should be wider than 60 cm, with a 10 cm high and 16 cm deep shelf behind for toiletries, also allowing easy pipe installation. Tall cabinets with mirrored doors add efficiency.

Lighting should be warm and focused on the face, not diffused. A magnifying mirror attached with stickers is useful. Consider embedding a radio or music system in the wall to improve mood.

Pīrs prefers acrylic bathtubs for their warmth, quietness, and easy maintenance. When buying, imagine if you can comfortably rest your back and feet, especially for taller men. If the overflow is lower than the knees, water will escape. The slope of the tub matters for comfort—straight-edged tubs are less comfortable.

The designer emphasizes that a bathroom should be more than a hygiene space; allocate a larger area with room for furniture like an armchair for relaxation. Strict black-and-white color schemes can feel uninviting. In the post-industrial era, everything can be customized, so think beyond standard dimensions.
