Apple has released iOS 27 beta 3 to developers, enabling the long-awaited “Pace” and “Expressivity” controls for Siri that were previously marked as “Coming soon.” Testers can now choose from multiple voices with different accents and use sliders to adjust how fast or slow Siri speaks, as well as how much emotion it conveys.

As users tweak the settings, Siri speaks sample phrases like “You have one new message” to help them evaluate the changes. This update is part of Apple’s broader effort to make Siri feel more natural and personal by rebuilding it around generative AI. For comparison, ChatGPT introduced similar voice customization—warmth, enthusiasm, and style options—back in December 2025.

First unveiled at WWDC in June 2026, these voice controls go beyond the earlier choice between male and female voices. Now users can pick voices with different accents and fine-tune speed and expressiveness. The AI-powered Siri is deeply integrated into iOS, accessible via speaking, swiping down from the Dynamic Island, pressing the side button, or using the new standalone Siri app.

Minor updates in iOS 27 beta 3 include a refreshed Reminders app icon. Some users on X report losing access to the new Siri after updating, or seeing their phone re-index data, which is typically the first step in optimizing Siri AI for search.
