Israel kills three Hamas members linked to October 2023 massacre
Israel's military said it killed three Hamas members in the Gaza Strip, including two involved in the October 7, 2023 attack. A Hamas commander was also among those killed.
Israel's armed forces announced on Sunday that three members of the Islamist group Hamas were killed in the Gaza Strip. According to the military, two of them had been directly involved in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. A Hamas commander was also among the dead.
The military, together with the Shin Bet internal security service, stated that the three men had recently been preparing attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. They were killed to prevent these threats from materializing.
Casualties on the Palestinian side as well
Palestinian officials reported that seven Palestinians have been killed in various Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past few days.
Large number of suspects remains
The Times of Israel reported in July that Israeli authorities believe more than 2,000 suspects involved in the 2023 attack are still in the Gaza Strip. It is estimated that around 5,000 terrorists infiltrated Israel on the day of the massacre.
Since then, approximately 2,700 of them have been killed, slightly less than half during the attack itself. Another 300 suspects are currently held in Israeli custody.
As a reminder, on October 7, 2023, attackers killed around 1,200 people in Israel and abducted more than 250 people, taking them as hostages to the Gaza Strip. Israel responded with a large-scale military campaign in the Gaza Strip, which continues to this day.
