Israeli drone strike kills Palestinian child in Gaza safe zone
An Israeli drone attack on tents in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, killed at least two Palestinians, including a young girl, and wounded four others. The attack occurred in a designated safe zone under the ceasefire.

Israeli drones struck two makeshift tents in al-Mawasi, a coastal area west of Khan Younis that had been designated a safe zone for thousands of Palestinians under the terms of the ceasefire. Medical sources reported at least two fatalities, including a young girl, and four wounded. Civil defence teams recovered seven injured from the site and transferred them to Nasser Hospital and the Red Cross Hospital.
Separately, a 10-year-old Palestinian boy, Walid Youssef Abu Jazar, died from wounds he sustained in an earlier Israeli bombardment of the same area, a hospital source confirmed.
Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Gaza City, said Israel continues its attacks despite the ceasefire. He noted that "maximum pressure" has been a core tenet of Israeli policy since the truce was reached last year and that drones remain active overhead.
The killing of Palestinian children has drawn renewed attention after a United Nations report documented Israel's targeting of children in Gaza, finding that children made up about 30% of those killed since October 2023. Children's rights campaigner Rachel Accurso and UN commissioner Chris Sidoti condemned the international community's failure to act.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, Israel's genocidal war has killed at least 73,043 Palestinians since October 2023 and wounded 173,417. Since the ceasefire in October 2025, 1,031 Palestinians have been killed and 3,309 wounded.
