The Latvian music group “Galerijas”, formed in early 2026, has released its second single, “Kad tevis te nav” (“When You Are Not Here”). The track was produced, mixed and mastered by Andis Ansons, a member of the indie electronic duo “Bel Tempo”. The band describes the single as one stage in its musical development.
About the song
The piece combines elements of contemporary pop and indie pop. It centres on longing for a loved one and the feeling that arises when that person is not nearby. The song deals with the wish to be together and with how another person's absence affects everyday life.
How it was made
The song was created at a creative camp organised by the band itself. There the musicians worked on new material and together looked for the future direction of their sound. The song emerged at the end of August, when they finally found time to go to the countryside.
The musicians later sent the first demo versions to Andis Ansons, with whom they had wanted to start working for some time. After meetings and recording sessions, the song was finished. The band says that together with the producer they found the right sound and achieved the result they had intended. They see it as a chance to develop the song with a producer and to hear it outside their usual working environment.
Band line-up
The group consists of Mariss Ķirsis, Kārlis Mūrnieks and Markuss Leikums. All three have been friends since their school days at the Riga Dome Boys' Choir School.
