New WRC team RallyOne Project won't contest a full season in 2027

The newly formed rally outfit RallyOne Project is preparing for the WRC27 regulations and hopes to line up at the Monte Carlo Rally, but does not plan to compete in a full season next year. A final decision on the season opener will come on November 1.

Rally team RallyOne Project continues preparations for next year's WRC27 technical regulations. The first chassis is already under construction, with testing set to begin in early September. Project leader Lionel Hansen shared these details in an interview with DirtFish, noting that a huge amount of work has been done over the past seven months, though significant challenges still lie ahead.

Aiming for Monte Carlo

The team's main priority is completing homologation of the car by January 1 and having two cars ready for the legendary Monte Carlo Rally. Before that event, six asphalt tests are planned, covering roughly 2,000 kilometers by the end of October. A final decision on entering the season opener will be made on November 1 — if no major reliability issues arise by then, the team believes it could bring one or two cars to Monte Carlo.

No full season planned

Hansen explained that next year the team intends to compete in only a handful of rounds, around five, rather than the entire championship, calling a full season unrealistic at this stage. Over two years, the team's overall goal is to complete 15 rally rounds. Since the focus is on the asphalt-specification car, the team does not plan to enter the Rally Sweden or other gravel events.

Technical details still evolving

The engine question remains open — the car currently uses a Skoda engine, but the team also has the option of developing its own homologated engine. The gearbox is already being produced in-house with its own supplier, and the asphalt suspension setup has been finalized, while work on gravel-specific components is still ongoing.
