Jelgava Schools Face Shortage of Latvian Language and Literature Teachers
As Jelgava prepares for the 2026/2027 school year, its educational institutions are most in need of Latvian language and literature teachers, along with mathematics and design/technology educators. Vacancies are open in both general and pre-school facilities.

According to the Jelgava municipality, schools and kindergartens in the city have announced several job openings in preparation for the upcoming academic year. The highest demand is for Latvian language and literature teachers, followed by mathematics teachers and design/technology teachers.
Multiple schools are also seeking music, physical education and health, computer science, English, biology, chemistry, German, history and social studies, and theater arts teachers, as well as individual instrument instructors, speech therapists, teacher assistants, and primary school teachers.
The institutions recruiting include Jelgava Technology Secondary School, Spīdola State Gymnasium, Jelgava 5th Secondary School, Centra Primary School, Paula Bendrups Primary School, Jelgava 4th Secondary School, and Pārlielupe Primary School.
Pre-schools also have several vacancies, with the greatest need for preschool teachers, speech therapists, and educational psychologists. Kindergartens "Kamolītis", "Ķipari", "Pasaciņa", "Rotaļa", "Vārpiņa", and "Zīļuks" are looking for teachers; speech therapists are needed at "Alnītis" and "Zemenīte"; and psychologists at "Kāpēcīši", "Ķipari", and "Pasaciņa". Some pre-schools also seek music and physical education teachers, "FasTracKids" instructors, teacher assistants, and administrative and technical staff.
Employers offer both full-time positions and opportunities to combine duties, such as classroom management or individual and group lessons.
