Jurmala Awards Cash Prizes to 141 Students for Outstanding Achievements

The Jurmala municipality awarded certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to 141 outstanding students at the Dzintari Concert Hall on June 17. The total prize amount was €17,060. The awards went to students from grades 7, 8, 10, and 11 for high academic achievements, success in olympiads, arts, music, and sports. Graduates of grades 9 and 12 will receive their awards on July 15 after the state exams.

For excellent academic results with an average grade above 8.5, 122 students received cash prizes. Another 14 students were honored for significant achievements in arts, music, and sports. Five students from the Jurmala Children and Youth Interest Center excelled in karting, model aircraft, and body painting competitions. Four students from the Jurmala Music School gained recognition in piano, wind, and percussion competitions, while four from the Jurmala Art School succeeded in art competitions. A student from the Jurmala Sports School stood out in international rhythmic gymnastics competitions.

The municipality also recognized students for high achievements in state subject olympiads in mathematics, English, Spanish, biology, design, and technology. Five general secondary education graduates will receive special recognition from the Prime Minister: Viktorija Daukste, Luīze Ziemele, Justīne Elza Grāvere, Markuss Ņesterovskis, and Marta Upmace.

Cash prizes have been awarded in Jurmala since 2016 under a municipal regulation. The amount of a single prize ranges from €50 to €250 depending on the level of achievement.
