Dogs allowed back on Jūrmala beaches from 1 November
The Jūrmala municipality says dogs are permitted on the city's beaches from 1 November to 31 March, provided they are on a leash. The ban remains in force from April to October.

Dog owners in Jūrmala, a resort city on the Gulf of Riga near the capital, can again bring their pets to the beach. According to information published by the Jūrmala municipality, dogs are allowed on the city's beaches from 1 November to 31 March. While on the beach, a dog must be kept on a leash.
Ban during the summer season
From 1 April to 31 October, staying on the beaches with pets is prohibited. This includes walking animals there or letting them swim.
The municipality says the ban remains in place during the period when many visitors come to the beach. Its stated aims are to ensure sanitary cleanliness, compliance with hygiene requirements and the quality of bathing water, as well as to avoid risks to people's safety.
Rules and enforcement
The option to bring pets to the beach in autumn and winter is set out in the municipality's binding regulations on keeping domestic or house animals. Compliance with these rules will be supervised and enforced by the Jūrmala municipal police.
