How to cancel your Whoop membership — and why it might be worth it
Whoop users looking to cut a recurring charge can cancel their membership through the brand's web app in a few simple steps. A growing wave of subscription-free wearables now offers similar features without ongoing fees.

Earlier this month, fitness tech company Whoop dropped the subscription requirement for its Advanced Labs blood-testing screenings, making them available to anyone without a band or membership — though each test still costs roughly $70. The band itself, however, remains largely unusable without an active subscription, unlike rivals such as the Oura Ring, which still offers free access to sleep, readiness and activity scores.
To unlock features like recovery insights, sleep tracking and VO2 max metrics, Whoop users must pay at least $149 a year for the entry-level Whoop One tier. Meanwhile, several new competitors now offer comparable or broader functionality without any monthly fee.
How to cancel
Canceling requires visiting Whoop's web app at app.whoop.com, opening the account dashboard, selecting the Membership tab, and choosing "Cancel Your Membership" at the bottom of the page. The exact process depends on the plan: monthly subscribers under a 12-month commitment can either pay off the remaining balance immediately or schedule cancellation for the end of the term; commitment-free monthly subscribers can cancel before their next billing date; annual subscribers can cancel once their 12-month term ends. New owners within 30 days of receiving their device qualify for a full refund and can return the hardware using a prepaid label, provided it's shipped back within a week to avoid a $110 restocking fee. Free trial users follow the same cancellation steps as standard subscribers.
Subscription-free alternatives
A growing number of screenless, subscription-free wearables are entering the market, including the Amazfit Helio Strap and the newly launched Garmin Cirqa, along with the budget-friendly Fitbit Air, which provides blood oxygen, sleep and heart-rate data for a one-time $100 fee. By comparison, Whoop's pricing ranges from $149 for first-year subscribers on the older 4.0 Sensor up to $359 a year for the top-tier Whoop Life plan with the newer 5.0 Sensor.
