Cape Verde Secure Historic Draw Against Uruguay in World Cup
Cape Verde fought back to draw 2-2 with Uruguay in World Cup Group H, scoring their first-ever goals in the tournament.

In a Group H clash, Cape Verde surprised Uruguay with a 2-2 draw. The underdogs took the lead in the 21st minute through Kevin Lenini's free kick, marking Cape Verde's first goal in a World Cup finals.
After the historic goal, Cape Verde created a few more chances, but Uruguay regained control. Maximiliano Araujo headed the equalizer in the 44th minute, and Agustín Canobbio put Uruguay ahead 2-1 in stoppage time.
Cape Verde's coach made substitutions at halftime, and in the 61st minute, substitute Helio Varela capitalized on a mistake by Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera to make it 2-2. Uruguay pushed for a winner, but Araujo's goal was disallowed for offside, and Federico Valverde's free kick went just over the bar.
Cape Verde now have two points from two games and will face Saudi Arabia on June 27. Uruguay also have two points and must beat Spain to keep their knockout stage hopes alive.
