King Charles Chooses Highgrove for Family Reunion – A Place of Special Significance
After a four-year hiatus, King Charles met with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children. The reunion took place at Highgrove House, chosen for privacy, security, and emotional reasons.

After a four-year hiatus, King Charles finally met with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children Archie and Lilibet. The family reunion took place at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, rather than other royal residences.
According to People magazine, Highgrove was chosen for several reasons. Unlike London residences, the estate offers greater privacy and security, which was important to Harry following years of disputes over his family's security in the UK. Additionally, Highgrove is close to other destinations the Duke of Sussex planned to visit during this trip, including Princess Diana's resting place at Althorp.
The location also holds deep emotional significance. Highgrove was the family home of King Charles and Princess Diana, where both Prince William and Prince Harry spent much of their childhood. In his memoir "Spare," Harry writes about the basement that he and his brother turned into a teenage hangout, jokingly calling it "Club H." These warm memories made Highgrove a symbolic place for such an important family gathering.
Although the meeting is seen as a significant step toward improving relations between the king and his younger son, the rift between Prince Harry and Prince William remains unbridged. The Prince of Wales did not attend the reunion, which took place only among the King, Queen Camilla, Harry, Meghan, and their two children.
It was the first time since 2022 that Charles saw his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet in person, and the first meeting of the entire Sussex family with the king in four years.
