Gulf states must act together on Iran, says Qatari prime minister

Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has stressed that Gulf states need to act together to restore stability in the region and support an agreement between the United States and Iran. He made the statement on Sunday at the Qatar Economic Forum held in New York, saying the region as a whole must respond responsibly and collectively.

Al Thani expressed hope that the recent war would serve as a wake-up call for everyone involved. Qatar, like several other Gulf states, has suffered missile attacks from Iran and is currently acting as one of the main mediators between the parties involved in the conflict.

Possible meeting at the UN

According to available information, leaders of Gulf states may meet with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. This would take place as the US seeks a resolution to the conflict with Iran that would allow the Strait of Hormuz — a key route for energy exports — to resume normal operations.

On Sunday, Trump told Fox News that he would likely be willing to meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is expected to travel to New York soon to attend the UN meeting.

Call to stop "saboteurs"

In an interview with Bloomberg, Al Thani said Gulf states must responsibly engage to stop those trying to sabotage stability and stir unrest. He noted that ending the conflict between the US and Iran will require more people who advocate for peace and support the negotiation process.
