House in Kyiv catches fire after drone debris falls on it
A house in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district caught fire on the evening of 29 August after debris from a drone landed on it, part of a broader Russian drone attack that injured eight people and killed a two-year-old girl in the capital.
A residential building in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district caught fire on the evening of 29 August after debris from a downed or crashed drone fell on it, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration. Officials said they were still gathering information about possible casualties from the incident.
Shortly before the fire broke out, an air-raid alert sounded across Kyiv from 18:22 to 18:45 due to the threat posed by Russian drones approaching the city.
Part of a wider assault
The fire was one of several incidents recorded in Kyiv on 29 August as Russian drones struck the capital throughout the day. Earlier, a drone crashed in the city's Obolonskyi district, damaging a café and killing a two-year-old girl. Another drone hit a non-residential building in the Podilskyi district, and a separate strike damaged a second non-residential building elsewhere in the capital.
Multiple people were injured across these incidents, with the total number of people hurt in Kyiv from the day's Russian drone attacks later rising to eight.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 224 attack drones at the country on 29 August, with the overwhelming majority directed at Kyiv.
