Chemist: We Really Did Originate From Stellar Elements
On a Latvian Radio programme, chemist and amateur astronomer Janis Jaunbergs and astrophysicist Karlis Berzins explained that life is built from elements formed through the birth and death of stars.

On the Latvian Radio programme "Zināmais nezināmajā" ("The Known in the Unknown"), chemist and astronomy enthusiast Janis Jaunbergs and astrophysicist Karlis Berzins, head of the Meteorite Museum, discussed what life is made of. The starting point was a remark by the American astronomer Carl Sagan, who said that "we are all made of star dust".
The two guests stressed that this is no exaggeration. Life is indeed based on elements that were formed and then scattered during the turbulent birth and death of stars.
In the headline of the programme's coverage, the chemist calls this idea fascinatingly beautiful: we really did originate from stellar elements.
