Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and the subsequent economic isolation have significantly altered the dynamics of Moscow-Beijing relations. According to an analysis published by The Wall Street Journal, China is increasingly positioning itself as the dominant force in this partnership.

As Western sanctions have cut off Russia from many markets, Beijing has seized the opportunity to expand its influence. China continues to purchase Russian energy resources while also increasing trade and investment, making it an indispensable partner for Moscow.

Experts suggest that this imbalance could have long-term consequences, as Russia becomes more dependent on Chinese support. Meanwhile, China, with its growing leverage, may set stricter terms for future cooperation. Although both countries officially describe their relationship as strategic, in practice it is becoming increasingly asymmetrical.
