Cough Assist Devices Could Become Free of Charge
Currently, the state does not cover the cost of cough assist devices, which are vital for patients with severe diseases. The Ministry of Health has included funding in a priority measures list, potentially making the devices free in the future.

Currently, patients who need cough assist devices to clear their airways are forced to pay for them out of pocket. These devices are vitally important for people with spinal muscular atrophy and other serious illnesses to reduce the risk of life-threatening complications.
According to LTV News, purchasing the device can cost several thousand euros, while renting it costs about 350 euros per month. Until now, the state has not covered these expenses.
However, the situation may change – the Ministry of Health has recently included funding for cough assist devices in the list of priority measures. This opens up the possibility of providing these devices to patients free of charge through state funding in the future.
