Amazon's Prime Day sale features the Kobo Libra Colour e-reader, promoted as a great alternative to Amazon Kindle devices. This model stands out with a color 7-inch screen and an adjustable warm front light. It has 32 GB of storage, capable of holding hundreds of books.

One key advantage of the Kobo Libra Colour over the Kindle Colorsoft is the physical page-turn buttons on a thicker side, making reading more comfortable without touching the screen. Additionally, with the separately sold Kobo Stylus 2 ($70), the device can also function as a digital notebook. Readers can annotate books, something Kindle does not allow.

Kobo recently raised its prices, so the current discount is particularly beneficial to avoid the new higher prices. The Kobo Libra Colour works with the Kobo Plus subscription (starting at $8 per week), providing access to a library of e-books and audio content, as well as the ability to add library books directly to the device.

In addition, the Kobo Clara BW is also on sale—a black-and-white e-reader with a 6-inch screen and an adjustable front light. It is smaller than the Libra Colour and similar in size to the basic Kindle, though the discount is not as big as the Kindle Paperwhite. However, the Clara BW is a cheaper way to step away from the Amazon ecosystem.
