Swimming Ban Lifted at Kolka Beach as Water Quality Improves
Latvia's Health Inspectorate has lifted the swimming ban at Kolka beach after repeat water samples showed reduced pollution levels within safe limits.

The Health Inspectorate of Latvia has announced that swimming is once again permitted at the official sea bathing site "Kolka" on the Baltic coast. Repeat water samples taken on June 4 revealed a significant decrease in pollution, with microbiological indicators now at just 3 colony-forming units per 100 milliliters of water—well within the norm. As a result, the previous swimming prohibition has been lifted.
Currently, swimming is allowed at all official inland and sea bathing sites across Latvia. Residents can monitor the latest water quality test results on the Inspectorate's website under the section "Beach Water Quality," which also includes a map of official beaches and safety information.
The next round of laboratory tests for all official bathing waters is scheduled for June 29 and 30.
