Colombian football fans, who turned Vancouver into a mini Bogota, wept after a penalty shootout defeat. Canadian fans, who fell in love with football this summer, also faced disappointment.

Colombian supporters, who sold cars and saved money for years to travel to the World Cup in Vancouver, experienced heartbreak. They had transformed the city into a small Bogota, but a penalty shootout ended their dream. These fans, often called the 'happiest people in the world,' could not believe it was over.

The tournament has lost not only a talented team but also one of the loudest and most colorful fan bases. For Colombians, football is not just a game – it is a way to forget daily troubles, unite families, and remind the world what it means to be Colombian.

But the tears in Vancouver were not only yellow. Days earlier, Canada – a nation that lives and breathes hockey but unexpectedly fell in love with football this summer – saw its historic run end. Around 30,000 people in the fan zone believed in another miracle until their dream also collapsed.

'I have never seen so many sad Colombians in one place,' said one fan. A Canadian admitted: 'We never watched football before, but this tournament just pulled us in.'

One city, two football sorrows, and two different farewells: Colombia left with tears and salsa; Canada with disappointment but a feeling that something had changed in the hockey country.
