Konate to join Real Madrid on four-year deal
Real Madrid have agreed to sign Ibrahima Konate on a four-year contract after the France defender leaves Liverpool on a free transfer.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Ibrahima Konate on a four-year deal, the Spanish club announced. The 27-year-old France centre-back will leave Liverpool as a free agent at the end of June after the two parties failed to agree on a new contract due to a gap over his valuation and wages.
According to Real Madrid's statement, the agreement ensures Konate will become a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, until 30 June 2030.
Konate, who is currently part of France's squad at the 2026 World Cup, joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 for £35 million on a five-year contract. He made 183 appearances for the Anfield club in all competitions, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
The defender recently expressed sadness over not being able to say goodbye to Liverpool fans after the team's final Premier League game of the season against Brentford on 24 May. "At that moment, I didn't know it would be my final time wearing this shirt in front of you," he said.
