Driver dies after hitting wild animal in Krāslava region

On Saturday morning, a driver died on the spot after colliding with a wild animal in Krāslava region. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.

A fatal traffic accident occurred in Krāslava region on Saturday, June 13, around 4:43 AM. In Kazanova, Ūdrīši parish, the driver of a Volkswagen Passat hit a wild animal and sustained fatal injuries, dying at the scene, according to the State Police.

Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including how the animal ended up on the road and whether the driver complied with safety regulations.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of 155 road accidents were registered across the country, resulting in 21 injuries and one death. In terms of administrative offences, 545 decisions were issued, including 212 for speeding and one for aggressive driving. One administrative process and four criminal proceedings were initiated for driving under the influence of alcohol.
