Russia is facing a widespread fuel shortage, with new data showing that petrol and diesel can be purchased at only slightly more than a quarter of all fuel stations listed in the database of the "GdeBenz" mobile application.

The situation was reported by "Izvestia", a newspaper loyal to the Russian government, which cited data collected on Sunday. According to the figures, fuel is available at just 28% of the stations registered in the app, meaning that at the vast majority of stations, drivers are unable to buy fuel.

"GdeBenz" is an application that allows users to track fuel availability and prices at various filling stations, and its data serves as an indicator of the state of the fuel market in a given country or region.

The source report did not provide further details on the specific causes of the shortage or on how the situation varies across different regions of Russia.
