Drones strike oil refinery in Russia's Kstovo, sparking fire

Overnight on August 26, drones struck the "Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez" oil refinery in the city of Kstovo, located in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. The information was reported by the monitoring channels ASTRA and Exilenova+.

Local residents said explosions were heard in the city, followed by a large-scale fire.

One of Russia's largest refineries

According to monitoring channels, the facility likely hit was the "Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez" plant, one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. The plant's capacity is about 17 million tonnes of oil per year. It produces automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, lubricants and other petroleum products.

Wildberries facility also hit

Reports also indicate that a local Wildberries facility was affected by the attack. Earlier the same night, drones had also struck a major logistics center of the Wildberries marketplace in the city of Kotovsk, in Russia's Tambov region, where a fire also broke out.
