Russian forces carried out a drone strike on the Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr overnight, using jet-powered drones in the attack.

The strike hit the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr Oblast, according to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Oblast Military Administration, who reported the attack on Telegram.

Bunechko said the building sustained damage but that information regarding those killed or injured was still being verified by authorities.

Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service, along with emergency medical teams and other relevant services, are currently working at the scene to deal with the aftermath of the strike.

Bunechko urged local residents to remain calm and to refrain from posting photos or videos from the site of the attack, in order not to hinder rescue operations or provide information that could help attackers assess the results of the strike.

As of now, precise details about casualties and the extent of the damage to the building have not been released, with officials continuing to assess the situation.
