Russian human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova and presidential special envoy Kirill Dmitriev will represent Russia at a meeting in Washington organized by Melania Trump, the wife of the U.S. president. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced this. Ukrainian representatives will also attend.

According to Peskov, Lantratova will lead the delegation if she manages to get there in time. He noted that a couple of hours earlier, not everyone traveling with her had yet received a visa.

How it became known

On November 3, the White House announced that Melania Trump planned to hold a meeting with Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Washington. Even after the official U.S. announcement, Peskov insisted he knew nothing about it.

The Ukrainian delegation

Ukraine will be represented by Davyd Arakhamia, who leads the Servant of the People party's parliamentary faction, and Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian parliament's human rights commissioner.

Earlier cooperation

Lantratova and Lubinets coordinated a humanitarian mission in Oleshky, in the Kherson region, on behalf of Russia and Ukraine respectively. The mission resulted in the evacuation of hundreds of people from the city. Both sides said Melania Trump was the main mediator in negotiating the truce.
