Russian drone strikes train in Kharkiv region, killing one passenger and injuring four
A Russian drone hit an electric train running from Lozova to Kharkiv, killing one passenger and injuring four others, even though the train had been stopped and partially evacuated beforehand.

Ukraine's Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport Mykola Kalashnyk reported that a Russian drone struck an electric train traveling from Lozova to Kharkiv at Lymanivka station in the Kharkiv region. One passenger was killed and four other people were injured in the attack.
According to the minister, the train was stopped in advance due to the threat of a strike, and passengers were evacuated. Most of them, along with the train crew, were at a safe distance from the railway infrastructure, but some people remained near the train, which proved fatal.
Kalashnyk stressed that during evacuations it is essential to strictly follow railway staff instructions and never remain near rolling stock, given the risk of repeat strikes. He also revealed that Russia struck the same train a second time that day, this time while rescuers were already working at the scene. Fortunately, no one was hurt in that second strike.
Attacks continue elsewhere
The minister noted that on August 23, as Ukraine marked State Flag Day, the enemy had already struck railway infrastructure five times that day. In the Odesa region, a "Shahed" drone hit the locomotive of a passenger train. That train was also stopped in time, and railway workers evacuated the passengers — a total of 593 people, including 15 children. There were no casualties.
After the first hit, the enemy struck the locomotive again. With assistance from the Odesa regional administration and the State Emergency Service, all passengers were safely transported to Odesa by bus, Kalashnyk said.
