Russian drone strikes kill 14 across Ukraine, damage hit Kyiv and Odesa
A large-scale overnight Russian drone assault on 26–27 September left at least 14 people dead and 57 injured across Ukraine, with strikes hitting Kyiv and the Odesa region.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that early on 27 September a Russian drone struck a non-residential building in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, killing a man whose body firefighters found while battling the resulting blaze. In the same district, another drone hit a single-storey vehicle service station, sparking a fire that emergency crews kept from spreading to a nearby food establishment. Both fires were brought under control by around 3am.
The strikes formed part of a broader overnight assault: Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched roughly 170 attack drones, including 76 jet-powered Shahed-type UAVs, targeting locations across the country.
Damage in Kyiv and Odesa
Officials reported further damage in Kyiv's Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, affecting a school, warehouses and communications facilities. Several people were injured, including two 16-year-old girls.
In the Odesa region, a separate mass strike killed one person and injured two others, damaging a residential building, a medical facility, a hotel, a shop and a grain storage site.
Ukrainian officials said the 26–27 September attacks killed at least 14 people and injured 57 nationwide, as Russian forces continue a sustained campaign of strikes against Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
