Major Russian energy companies have asked Indian oil refineries to increase gasoline deliveries. This step follows a significant reduction in Russia's refining capacity caused by Ukrainian strikes, according to sources familiar with the matter cited by Reuters.

Russia, one of the world's largest exporters of oil and petroleum products, has recently faced major production disruptions. Drone and missile attacks by Ukraine have hit several Russian refineries, reducing their ability to process crude oil into finished products like gasoline and diesel.

In response, Russian energy firms turned to Indian partners to compensate for the domestic output decline. India has become a major importer of Russian crude oil in recent years, but now Russia is seeking finished products. This shift in supply chains indicates the severity of problems in Russia's energy sector.

Indian refineries have not officially commented on Russia's request, but sources say talks are ongoing. If an agreement is reached, it could impact global fuel markets, as India is already a significant exporter of petroleum products.
