A warehouse in Boryspil that held part of the product stock for Ukrainian supermarket chain Varus was damaged in a Russian missile strike overnight between 19 and 20 August, the company announced on Facebook.

According to Varus, the damaged facility belongs to the chain's logistics partner and was used to store some of its goods. The company said it is working together with representatives of the partner to assess the consequences of the strike and clarify the full circumstances of the incident.

Varus warned customers that the attack could lead to temporary, partial shortages of certain products at some of its stores. At the same time, the chain stressed that it continues to operate as usual, with all locations open and ready to serve customers. The company said it is doing everything possible to keep supply chains running and to maintain product availability on store shelves.

Part of a wider pattern

The strike is not an isolated case. A warehouse belonging to the Fora grocery chain in Martusivka, Kyiv Oblast, which stored fresh produce, was also damaged in a separate Russian strike. In the same overnight attack on Boryspil, food warehouses and Red Cross facilities were hit as well, with firefighting efforts still underway at the impact sites.
