A Russian strike hit a nine-storey apartment building in Kharkiv early Monday, injuring 25 people including nine children, as part of a wider overnight wave of attacks across Ukraine.
A Russian strike hit a nine-storey apartment block in Kharkiv's Saltivskyi district at around 4am on Monday, damaging apartments on the lower floors. The attack injured 25 people, including nine children aged between three and 15.
Regional authorities said emergency crews evacuated 32 residents from the damaged building. Rescue workers searched the affected floors for anyone who might still be trapped.
Two boys, aged eight and 12, were taken to hospital, while the other injured children received treatment at the scene. Several victims were also treated for injuries and acute stress reactions.
Investigation and wider attacks
Rescue workers, police and medical teams continued clearing debris through Monday. Authorities said investigators were working to determine which weapon had been used in the strike.
The attack on Kharkiv formed part of a broader wave of Russian overnight strikes across Ukraine. Four people were injured in Kyiv, while preliminary reports indicated two more were hurt in Odesa.
Kharkiv, a major city in north-eastern Ukraine, has faced repeated Russian strikes since the start of the full-scale invasion.
