Russia's three largest online marketplaces — Avito, Ozon, and Wildberries — have banned the sale of fuel at the request of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), state news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing the service's statement.

The FAS said Avito hid its fuel listings, while Ozon and Wildberries blocked any attempts to list fuel for sale at the moderation stage before the listings went live. The antimonopoly service stated that the measures were taken to "prevent speculative resale of fuel."

Earlier, Avito's press service had announced the removal of all gasoline listings "to prevent speculation on essential goods." According to Russian business outlet RBC, at the time of that announcement, Avito had more than 600 private listings for gasoline sales.

Independent Russian news outlet The Bell reported that as of June 16, 2026, fuel purchase limits for private vehicles were in place in 53 Russian regions, as well as in Ukrainian territories annexed by Russia. In 18 of those regions, drivers could purchase no more than 50 liters (one full tank) of gasoline. The Bell also noted shortages at many gas stations in 11 other regions, even though no volume caps had been imposed there.

Russia's fuel crisis began in late May amid a surge in Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries and fuel depots.
