PepsiCo has confirmed that a Russian attack on 29 August damaged one of its production facilities in Ukraine's Mykolaiv Oblast. The company said no employees were injured in the incident.
In a statement, PepsiCo Ukraine said the safety of its staff remains the top priority and confirmed all personnel are safe. The company is currently evaluating the full scale of the damage and taking steps to restore product deliveries to customers and consumers across Ukraine as quickly as possible.
Operations in Ukraine
PepsiCo produces soft drinks, juices, chips, snacks, dairy products and other food items under a wide range of brands, including Pepsi, Lay's, 7up, Mirinda and Sandora, among others. The company operates three facilities in Ukraine — two in Mykolaiv Oblast and one in Kyiv Oblast.
Background on Russia operations
In 2022, PepsiCo was among the companies that announced plans to exit the Russian market, saying it would halt advertising and production of certain beverages there. In practice, however, the company continued operating in Russia, offering rebranded versions of its drinks, and later expanded its presence by opening a new snack production facility. In 2023, its Russian subsidiary Wimm-Bill-Dann saw profit rise 2.6-fold, while the group's total sales grew 26% to reach $4.7 billion.
